love what we do

At Rubix Design Collective we love how a space can be transformed and the response evoked through that change. There are several key elements we consider and essential through the intended design process to ensure your space will be functional and serve its intended purpose.

01.

purpose and function

Understanding the purpose of the space and how it will be used is crucial. Whether it’s a residential, kitchen or commercial space, the design considered should align with its intended function. A well-designed space enhances its usability and can evoke specific emotions or behaviours.

02.

aesthetics and style

The visual appeal and style of a space greatly contribute to the response it evokes. We consider elements like colour schemes, patterns, textures, and materials. Each choice can create a different atmosphere, whether it’s cosy and intimate, sleek and modern, or vibrant and energetic.

03.

layout and space planning

The arrangement of furniture, fixtures, and other elements within a space impacts its functionality and flow. An efficient layout can make a small area feel more spacious or create zones for different activities. The arrangement should be intuitive and support the intended use of the space.

04.

lighting

Lighting is crucial aspect of interior design as it can dramatically affect the mood and ambiance of the space. We consider the natural light and maximize where possible, and artificial lighting carefully chosen to create the desired atmosphere. Lighting techniques such as task lighting, ambient lighting and accent lighting can be used to highlight specific areas, object and create different effects.

05.

scale and proportion

The scale and proportion of furniture, objects, and architectural elements are essential for a harmonious design. Properly scaled items create a balanced composition and ensure that the space feels visually pleasing and comfortable.

06.

personalization

Tailoring the design to your preferences and needs of the individuals using the space can make it more inviting and personal. Customized elements, artwork, and decor can add character and evoke emotional responses.

I simply love what I do. I find inspiration in the natural environment and like taking cues from the early design movements of the 20’s & 30’s.

I have an appreciation for the diverse design styles found in architecture and cultures worldwide. I remain ever-curious and committed to staying updated on the latest trends in furniture and materials.

My passion lies in the art of infusing a unique twist into my projects. This may involve the modification or repurposing of materials seamlessly incorporating them in unexpected and delightful ways.

My background in the construction industry, coupled with over twenty years of experience, including key relationships, allows me to approach design intuitively. My goal is to create spaces that are both practical and inspiring, resulting in a harmonious blend of form and function tailored to your unique vision.
